Ethan is a designer and creative thinker who believes in the power of design thinking combined with love. He lives in Connecticut and is a student at the Hartford Art School.
Ethan is the author of Creative Grab Bag, published by HOW Books in 2009, which challenged one hundred artists and designers from around the world to explore their creativity. He is the student group director on the AIGA Connecticut board and this past summer interned at co:lab, a design studio and branding company in Hartford, Connecticut.
Ethan is a designer at Be Playful, a collaborative multi-disciplinary design studio embracing the concept of play and working to change the way we learn. He is a member and lead designer of the organizing team for TEDxBloomington, an independently organized TED event about the Wisdom of Play.
Ethan spoke at the AIGA National Design Conference about the future of design education with Charles Harrison, Lifetime Achievement Award Winner from the Cooper Hewitt National Museum of Design. He has worked with Behance as a remote intern focused on marketing and reaching out to students. And as an Eagle Scout, he values community and leadership.
Ethan is a junior working toward a BFA in Visual Communication Design at the Hartford Art School, University of Hartford. He is the founder and curator of Synthesis, the official blog of the Hartford Art School which features student work, interviews with faculty and students, news, exhibit documentation, and inspiration from artists from around the world.
He is currently working on Committed to Community, an initiative at the University of Hartford which revolves around a new adopted Values Statement. During freshmen year, he served as the president of the Student Art Council and in sophomore year was the representative for the Hartford Art School to the Student Government Association. In 2008, Ethan graduated from Chase Collegiate School.
