Friday - New Schedule

The School District of Philadelphia has cancelled school for Friday, but fear not, EduCon lives on.

SLA will open at 10 AM Friday.

For those interested, unconference sessions will begin at 11 AM.

Athletically-minded attendees need fear not.

SLA's own physical education teacher Pia Martin will lead a workout at 11 AM and 2 PM.

For EduRunners, we've some great news.

SLA teachers will lead runs departing from the school at 9 AM, 10 AM, and 11 AM.

All runs will be at a conversational pace so you can enjoy the Philly sights (and stay upright). Please dress for the weather.

And for those who like competition, we will have Scrabble and Ping-Pong up in the 3rd floor ballroom.

At noon we will be showing segments of Digital Media: New Learners of the 21st Century, a new documentary sponsored by Pearson and the MacArthur Foundation premiering on PBS on Feb 13th.

LUNCH - Aya's (across the street), Little Pete's and Mission Grill will all donate a portion of your meal back to SLA to support student experiential learning. Please visit these fine establishments and let them know you are from Educon!

From 2-3 PM Jose Vilson will be discussing the book Teaching 2030 and what educators can do to forge a better future for our students' education.

In addition to all of the above, EduCon attendees receive free admission to The Franklin Institute (within walking distance of SLA) and The Constitution Center (an easy trolley/el ride from the school) by showing their EduCon name tags (stop by the EduConcierge desk for more information).

And the evening's activities at The Franklin Institute are unchanged.

See everyone on Friday!

Enjoy the snow day. Center City should be lovely to walk around. Me, I'm under the covers with my computer. See you tonight

I love all of the physical activities and the advice, dress for the weather! It will be fun to see the pictures of participants jogging through the snowy environs of Philly. Now I'm thinking about how I could take my students on a run at a conversational pace. :)
